OUR VISION
Students will acquire a strong foundation in reading, writing, speaking, listening, and mathematics. Students will develop skills in critical and creative thinking and problem solving in order to excel in advanced studies across the curriculum. Students will be prepared for future employment through career awareness and skills training. Students will practice active citizenship through community service. The Los Alamitos Unified School District will ignite students’ passion for learning and awaken their special talents by providing a rich variety of experiences in academics, fine and applied arts, activities, and athletics.
Students will be taught by skillful, motivated, and caring teachers who inspire and nourish student learning. Teachers will vary their instructional strategies to actively engage students. Teachers will use the results of multiple assessments to adjust curriculum and to differentiate instruction. The Board and administration will support teamwork, collaboration, and ongoing professional development for all staff.
Students and staff will use technology as a tool for teaching and learning; for acquiring, analyzing, and using information; and for accessing people and ideas throughout the world. The Los Alamitos Unified School District supports the ongoing pursuit of new technologies to increase student achievement and engagement in the learning process.
The Los Alamitos Unified School District will seek out and welcome partnerships built on collaboration and communication. Working together, schools, families, businesses, colleges, universities, employers, and community agencies will provide the support and resources needed to help students grow academically, socially, physically, and emotionally.
Los Alamitos Unified School District will take pride in graduating students who are competent, motivated, and caring individuals who possess the skills, knowledge, and confidence to pursue their dreams and make a positive contribution to society. They will model the core values of respect, honesty, integrity, compassion, and personal responsibility which are essential to positive human relations. The cooperative efforts of the Board, administration, teachers, students, support staff, families, and community—each one possessing a unique and important role—will make this vision a reality.
