Superintendent
Ms. Renee Hill |
District Superintendent
In July 2021, Ms. Renee Hill began serving as the 12th superintendent for the Riverside Unified School District. She leads a vision for the district, striving to actualize the governance team goals of student learning and well-being for all.
Throughout her 28 years of experience in RUSD, Ms. Hill has served in the roles of teacher, site administrator, math specialist, instruction director, assistant superintendent, and chief academic officer. As the director, she helped establish the Heritage Program. As assistant superintendent, Ms. Hill and her team helped RUSD establish the Inland Code Consortium. As the chief academic officer, she and her team transformed the Riverside Virtual School, making it one of the few virtual schools to offer real-time teacher-student interaction.
Ms. Hill rounds her experience by having worked in the private sector as a telecom project manager in several North American cities and in the nonprofit sector as a senior advisor to the California Emerging Technology Fund, an advocacy organization for digital equity.
She has presented at multiple conferences including the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) Sister Symposium, Aurora Institute, The International Society for Technology in Education, and New Schools Venture Fund. She chaired the regional Girl Scout Alumni Network for a number of years and served on the Neighbors of the Wood Streets Steering Committee.
Ms. Hill has been honored as a recipient of the RUSD Teacher of the Year Award, ACSA Administrator of the Year Award, Riverside-San Bernardino Chapter NAACP Education Award, and Assembly District 61 Woman of the Year Award.
Together, with RUSD leadership and educators, Ms. Hill endeavors to deliver on the promise of high-quality education for each student. Her goals are outlined in the acronym C.A.R.E.
Care. Make sure that everyone feels cared for and cared about, not only in the classroom but in the community.
Academic achievement. The primary mission of Riverside Unified, we want to make sure we help our students meet their aspirations, develop their full potential, and open new worlds so our students understand their bright futures and all the possibilities the world holds for them.
Reduce service gaps. Evaluate outstanding projects that must be completed including facilities maintenance, academic performance, office culture, and entry manner of service so that we can continuously get better and better.
Excellence every time. Expect excellence from staff, students, families, stakeholders, and our community. We can, and should, strive for excellence with every goal we set and project we complete.
Ms. Hill earned a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of California, Riverside, and a master’s in business from Stanford University’s executive MBA program.
