Our Story
A family-run winery and vineyard in the heart of Temecula
The history of Akash Winery begins with a family — a mom, dad, and son with a vision. A photo of a vineyard, perched on a fireplace mantle 20 years ago, embodied the Patel family dream.
In 2010, that vision took root in the sandy loam of the beautiful Temecula Valley, when they purchased a 20-acre parcel of prime vineyard land.
Little did they know — Nalini, Ray, and their son Akash — that their dream would grow exponentially, just like the vines they planted on Calle Contento.
Willpower and manpower, friends and extended family, helped guide them along the way. A winery and tasting room stocked with award-winning wines, season upon season of events and activities, and the joy of counting loyal customers among their ever-growing family proved to be more gratifying than they could have imagined.
Working alongside renowned winemaker Renato Sais, the Patels craft wines that are both unique and familiar. Two distinct labels, one sourced from their meticulously farmed estate vineyards and the other from neighboring vines, offer something for every palate.
Contemporary, eye-catching labels signify that theirs is not a winery stuck in the dark ages. Rather, it is a vibrant, living dream that continues to grow and evolve over time.
Our artful, lively tasting room and patio opened to the public in 2019. Spirited gatherings, tasting events, and wine club pickup parties fill the space with fun and excitement year-round. Join us for a yoga session on the patio, a sumptuous picnic in the vineyard, or a glass of wine at sunset. We hope to welcome you there, as part of our growing, extended family.
From the Patel Family to yours — we hope you experience a taste of our dream in every glass.
Five Reasons To Visit Akash Winery in Temecula, California
Here are my five reasons for making sure you don’t miss out on this wonderful winery:
🌟 Akash Winery’s Story
Akash Winery is family owned and operated. Ray, Nalini and Akash had a dream of starting a winery. In 2010 they bought a parcel of land in Temecula to turn their dream into a reality! We met Akash when we visited, and it was so fun to hear his story! You can really feel the passion he has for this business!
🌟 Special Events
Akash Winery knows that wine is more fun when enjoyed with family and friends! Before planning your visit, check to see if they have any events during your scheduled visit time frame.
Some events include drive in movies, yoga and a wine class!
Visit Akash Winery event page for more info on upcoming events!
🌟 Décor at Akash Winery
One of my favorite things about the different wineries in Temecula is seeing how each one of them decorates their space! I loved the vibe at Akash Winery. I would describe it as industrial modern/chic. When you walk in you can tell that you are in one of the hottest wineries in Temecula. The decorative touches were perfect! The tables throughout the space encourage you to mingle and meet a new friend or three! One of my favorite decorative elements was the artwork on display. The pieces were beautiful! The outdoor area was my favorite spot! The views of the winery are gorgeous! Comfortable seating and a fire pit, games such a Connect Four and Corn Hole available for you to enjoy plus the views of the sunset were spectacular!
🌟 Wine
I saved the best for last! The fourth and fifth reasons to visit Akash are two of the wines we tasted – a Sauvignon Blanc and a Rosé! Now, I must admit, I am not an educated wine taster. While others are talking about the different tasting notes, all I can tell you is if I like it or not. I enjoyed their wines, and I also love their label designs!
My Mom (Always5Star) has tasted their wines. I will offer you her expert tasting notes and advice on pairings:
2017 Sauvignon Blanc:
A pale, silvery, straw appearance, light aromas of grapefruit, lime and citrus rinds with hints of herbs provide an intriguing combination. Your palate will enjoy the crispness that lends itself to a refreshing summer wine.
This wine pairs well with fish, shellfish, salads, cheeses, and warm sourdough bread. This young wine will surprise you with its nuances and sophistication. – Always5Star
2017 Parlez Vous Rosé:
An intense, garnet hue with notes of strawberry, watermelon, orange, hibiscus and hints of floral aromas. The wine embodies a sweet and fruity taste with moderate acidity. It lends itself perfectly for a summer picnic or beach party. Tip: You will want to serve this cold as it maximizes the flavors and your enjoyment.
This wine pairs well with spicy brash flavors. I suggest enjoying this with fresh spicy sushi selections. Ahi tuna would be an ideal pairing. – Always5Star
🌟 Akash Winery Location

Briar Rose Winery, located in Temecula, California has the proud distinction of being Temecula Valley’s premier boutique winery. We are family owned and operated.
Our winery produces handcrafted, small lot, premium, artisan wines made from the most intensely, flavored grapes from our lush vineyards.
Our Story Began……
Many years ago, before developers discovered Temecula, the valley was dotted with small family-owned farms, orchards and vineyards.
In the 1970’s, Beldon Fields purchased land in Temecula and built replicas of Snow White’s cottage for his wife. Beldon worked for Walt Disney and was one of many artisans who built Disneyland’s Fantasyland and Toon Town. The fairy tale cottage was celebrated as the first home showcased on the Temecula Valley Women’s Club Holiday Home Tour in 1984. There is an old olive tree in front of the cottage that was a gift to Beldon Fields from veteran viticulturist John Moramarco. The olive tree relocated from the Calloway Winery – is one of the largest and oldest olive trees in Temecula, if not in the entire State of California. In the early 1990’s, Les and Dorian Linkogle purchased the beautiful estate from Beldon Fields with the promise to not change the architecture of the cottages. The initial reason for the Linkogles to move to Temecula was to provide open space for their son Larry “Link” Linkogle to ride his motorcycle. For motocross fans, the name Larry Linkogle should sound familiar. Larry is regarded as one of the pioneers of the freestyle motocross sport. He has competed in numerous contests, including the Freeride Motocross Championship, Zero Gravity Festival, NBC Gravity Games and the ESPN X Games. His life story was featured in documentary “Mind of a Demon: The Larry Linkogle Story” which was voted “Best Documentary” at the Slamdance Film Festival and voted best “Jury International Documentary” at the Bel-Air Film Festival. Fast forward to today and you’ll see that Larry is known as the most influential name in the extreme motocross industry. He was voted the most popular extreme natural terrain rider in the world by Fox Sports Blue Torch TV during the 2002 Moto Survival Tour. Larry also set the world’s Long Distance Jump record on his stock 250cc motorcycle and was Vin Diesel’s stunt double in the movie Triple XXX. In 2006, the winery hosted the first freestyle motorcycle biker build-off produced by the Discovery Channel between Larry Linkogle and Mike Metzger. It turned out that the estate location was perfect for growing grapes. So, in the late 1990’s Viognier grapes were planted along with Merlot, Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon and Riesling. Soon, the Linkogles began selling some of their grapes to local wineries. When the resulting wines started winning awards, the family considered opening a winery of their own. In 2002, Carl Key, owner of the Keyways Winery, convinced Les Linkogle to open his own winery and wine tasting, which he did. From 2002 until 2007, the family worked towards making their lifelong dream a reality. While completing various permitting processes and inspections, the Linkogles worked diligently on perfecting their wines and preparing a first-class estate winery. Since their grand opening in 2007, the winery has charmed all who visit to enjoy wine tasting. “We welcome everyone from the wine novice to the wine connoisseur seeking premium estate wines. As a family owned and operated business, we go out of our way to make everyone feel pampered”, says Dorian. Galleano Winery Wineries
Profile
Galleano Winery
The Historic Galleano Winery was founded in 1927 by Domenico Galleano. The winery complex remains largely unchanged today and is open daily for wine flights, wines by the glass, and wines by the bottle.
Galleano is the oldest Prohibition-era winery in the Cucamonga Valley still owned by the family and operating at its original location.
The winery is proud to be recognized as a Riverside County Historic Landmark, a State of California Point of Historic Interest and to be listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
Galleano Winery is located in Mira Loma’s Wineville area and is still much the same as it was in 1927 when the Galleano family purchased the land. The winery is located at the southern fringe of the Cucamonga Valley, made famous for winegrowing by Secondo Guasti, who like Domenico came from northern Italy’s Piedmonte region. The name means foot of the mountains and would be appropriate to Cucamonga, an alluvial plain that sweeps down from the eastern reaches of the San Gabriel Mountains.
In the 1940’s there were more than 45,000 acres devoted to vineyards in the area, and approximately 60 wineries.
Today, Galleano Winery is the last remaining bonded, Prohibition-Era winery still owned and operated by its founding family at its original location in the Cucamonga Valley.
The Galleano family is honored that the Landmark Cantu-Galleano Ranch complex is listed on the California and National Register of Historic Places.
The Cantu ranch consisted of a two-story house, built in the late 1890’s, a large barn, smaller out buildings and a vineyard, most of which remain today.
The vineyards prospered under the direction and hard work of Domenico. Using a mule team and a Fresno earth scraper, he expanded the vineyard, burying the vine cuttings and other scrap vegetation in the hollows carved by the wind and then having the mules drag a covering of sand from the dunes. Domenico Galleano contributed a lasting legacy of soil preservation with the invention of the Noble Blade and the co-founding of the West End Resource Conservation District.
Domenico cared for his family, tended his fields and made wine all the rest of his life at the winery on Wineville Road. He guided his family through the Great Depression, Prohibition and the Great Recession. Friends and family members remember the hospitality that waited for them all as they met at the ranch during those times. The ranch was again a safe haven, a place to seek refuge, a place to renew the spirit.
Esteban Cantu and Domenico Galleano had many common threads, conviction, honesty, integrity and inner strength. Each man was dedicated to his family, country and chosen way of life.
The Cantu-Galleano ranch is a story of two men. One young man involved in the Mexican Revolution seeking a safe haven for his family and continued with another young man seeking a better standard of living, fleeing the economic depression of Italy’s Piedmont Region. The former became a great statesman and governor of Baja California Norte; the latter would live 95 years to see his dream passed on to his son and grandson.
Galleano Winery stands as a historic gem in the realm of California winemaking, with a legacy spanning over a century. Established in 1927, this family-owned and operated winery exudes an enchanting blend of tradition and innovation. Situated in the Cucamonga Valley, Galleano Winery boasts one of the oldest continuously producing vineyards in Southern California, fostering a deep connection to the land’s rich viticultural heritage. The winery is celebrated for its commitment to cultivating rare and heirloom grape varieties, crafting wines that evoke a sense of time and place. Visitors are treated to a journey through history as they explore the meticulously preserved original winery building and lush vineyards. From zinfandels that embody the essence of the region’s terroir to captivating blends that pay homage to the Galleano family’s enduring passion, the wines offer a taste of tradition with a contemporary twist. It’s a destination that invites wine enthusiasts to not only savor exceptional wines but also to immerse themselves in the captivating narrative of California’s winemaking evolution.

Family-owned Wilson Creek Winery Nestled in Temecula Wine Country
The family vibe can be felt immediately when stepping foot on the beautiful Wilson Creek grounds right in the heart of Temecula Wine Country. It’s the kind of place where you just release a deep sigh because you feel at home. The atmosphere is not to be outdone by the fine quality of award-winning wine, gourmet food, and bustling tasting rooms. Wilson Creek Winery also hosts many weddings, private events, and concerts throughout the year. Good things are meant to be shared, and the Wilson family is remarkable at building their extended family community.
These two individuals started their story in August of 1953 when they walked down the wedding aisle. They adopted a child and then gave birth to three more children, within the next two and half years. Gerry was a financial advisor, while Rosie was a former TV cooking show host. Family and work placed at the top of the list of their priorities. Neither one was ready to risk all their savings when one of their grown children suggested launching a new family business.
At first, they looked at Solvang, but it didn’t seem right for them. Then they discovered Temecula, and in 1996 they decided to take a gamble on creating a small winery and called it Wilson Creek Winery. They sold their home in South Pasadena and by the next year, three of their children and their spouses picked up from where they were living to move to Temecula wine country as well. The enduring success of Wilson Creek still is founded upon the love and commitment of the Wilson family members. The entire family is involved. Guests can feel the energy and personal touch when visiting the winery. Family members are always in attendance and ready to give a warm, personal welcome to all. Wilson Creek Winery has developed into a vibrant and dynamic center of quality wines, customer service, and entertainment. Bringing innovation and warmth to the valley, the Wilson family have cemented their legacy of presenting a warm family environment, having fun, and throwing great parties. Today, they own 90 acres and sell over 75,000 cases of wine each year. Each weekend the winery welcomes more than 1,500 visitors. Their winery hosts multiple charity events each year, that bring in hundreds of thousands of dollars, and the Temecula Valley Chamber of Commerce* named them Gold Business of the Year four times. This family enterprise started with a dream, before it grew into the successful commercial entity it has become since the tasting room opened in 2000. *Temecula Chamber of Commerce – Temecula Valley Southern California Wine Country |
Wilson Creek Winery has come a long way….
The Wilson experience and commitment demonstrates itself in the success of their numerous events, weddings, concerts, accommodations and charity functions that parallel a broad selection of award-winning wines. Home of the famous Almond Sparkling Wine (formerly known as Almond Champagne), the winery has garnered numerous prestigious wine awards. Gerry is especially proud that Wilson Creek is the unofficial winery of many Navy ships, including eight aircraft carriers. Wilson Creek has been an innovator in the local business community having garnered several awards including four-time Business of the Year, Entrepreneur of the Year, the Best of San Diego and Best of Inland Empire and Couples Choice award from Wedding Wire several times. Wilson Creek also sparked the attention of Hollywood and has been featured on the Today Show with Kathie Lee, Radical Sabbatical which aired on the Fine Living Network, the syndicated show Blind Date, Millionaire Matchmaker, Love Connection, Animal Planet, and the MTV show Dismissed just to name a few. Bill (C.E.O.) recognizes the contributions made by the Temecula Valley to the early success of Wilson Creek and now he seeks to give back by supporting various events and causes. Bill serves on several Temecula Valley boards sharing his experience such as the 20/20 vision, Temecula Valley Visitors Bureau, Temecula Valley Winegrowers Association and the Temecula Valley Water Board. That initial leap of faith and an unwavering dream-built Wilson Creek Winery to its current state. It is a destination in Temecula wine country where friendly service, great tasting wines, and entertainment are commonplace now. Gerry’s response when reflecting back many years ago to that leap of faith is, “Sure, I do miss South Pasadena. We lived there for 30 wonderful years. Yet, I love wine country. The main thing is that this is a family-run business. I love the fact that all my children and grandchildren are here. My commute is about 200 meters through a vineyard with a cup of coffee in my hand. We look forward to a daily routine of meeting our many guests, sharing a glass of wine with them, and welcoming them into our extended family. We are very blessed!”

Val Verde Unified School District MISSION
The mission of Val Verde Unified School District is to create a positive environment that produces life-long learners who will become responsible, contributing citizens able to function in a culturally diverse society.
STUDENT SERVICES OVERVIEW
Our district’s pledge is to create a culture of attendance every day, every month. We know that achievement and student success are inextricably linked to attendance. The leadership and staff at Val Verde Unified School District are dedicated to ongoing communication, support, and encouragement around the importance of showing up.
The most important thing we can do for our children to succeed in life is to get them to school every day and on time. Here is why:
*In the elementary years, children who miss school are more likely to struggle academically and, in later years, to dropout entirely
*In the secondary years, attendance is the No. 1 predictor of dropout and graduation rates
*Attendance is a top indicator of being on track for graduation and for college and career readiness
*Nearly 67% of course failures were attributed to attendance
Every year, thanks to our partnerships, we strive for continuous attendance improvements. With you on our team, we are recovering valuable learning time for our students. Thank you for your dedication all year long—together, we are making a difference!
Student Services also provides service in the following areas:
• Attendance Options
• Child Abuse and Neglect
• Custody of Minors
• Education for Homeless Children
• Foster Youth
• Permits
• Pupil and Parent Rights
• Student Discipline
• Truancy Reduction
• Work Permits
• Youth Compulsory Attendance
Attendance
School attendance matters! Consistent student attendance is an essential component of school success. Too often, however, students and parents do not realize how quickly excused and unexcused absences can add up to academic trouble. Chronic absenteeism is defined as missing 10 percent or more of the school year – which equates to missing as little as 2 days of school each month. According to the research, poor school attendance results in third graders that can’t read, sixth graders that fail courses, and ninth graders that drop out of high school.
Tips for Parents to Promote Good Attendance:
Let your child know that good attendance is important.
- Reward your child for already good or improved attendance.
- Only schedule doctor and dentist appointments after school.
- Schedule vacations to coincide with school holidays and longer school breaks.
Allow no excuses
- If your child complains of minor headaches, stomach aches, or other pains, consider consulting with your doctor, but send them to school. If a minor ailment would not prevent you from going to work, then it should not prevent your child from going to school.
Establish routines.
- Set a reasonable bedtime and create a comforting evening routine.
- Use an alarm clock and create a morning routine as well. Set the alarm for 30 minutes earlier than actually necessary to allow for any unforeseen morning delays.
- Plan ahead the night before. For example, pre-plan breakfast; choose clothes and shoes to be worn to school; and pack student backpacks with completed homework, nonperishable snacks, and water.
- Reserve school nights for homework and limit the use of TV or other electronic devices.
Show interest in your child’s activities
- Make education a family priority.
- Encourage your child to reasonably participate in school sports, clubs, or other after-school activities.
Keep open lines of communication with your child, teacher, principal, and school attendance office
- Let the school know in advance if your child is going to be absent or you have concerns about your child’s attendance.
- Attend all parent conferences, parent classes, back-to-school, and open house activities.
- Reach out to the school if you have concerns about your child’s academic, behavioral, social, or emotional well-being.
- Provide a doctor’s notes to the school office when medical verification is available for student’s absences.
- If your child does not want to go to school, find out why and work with your school and child to address concerns. Your child’s safety and well-being are a very high priority!
- If you notice your child avoiding or having a difficult time in a particular subject area, discuss it with your child and his/her teacher. Offer extra support at home. This will prevent your child from developing a behavior of avoidance in school when things become difficult.
- Get to know your children’s friends and their families. Make connections with other families that value school attendance.
- Check your child’s backpack at least weekly. Occasionally, important letters or notices can become lost in a full backpack. Organizing its contents regularly improves your chances of finding these documents while they are still useful.
- Keep a school year calendar. This is an excellent way to track all of the important dates, holidays, and events at your child’s school. It’s also a convenient place to document absences (who was absent, why and how you cleared it, the date cleared), phone calls/conferences with school staff, and all of your other important school related information.
